Why Goodbye

A meeting rescheduled last minute left Paul in the company with little to do and, rather listlessly, he'd been roaming the SL halls like a friendly ghost—peeking a head into the staff office or practice rooms when he saw a familiar face. Occasionally he'd stop to admire or peruse wall decor—posters and official photos or even notices—he hadn't had a chance to look at before. That quickly grew boring, however, and with another hour or so before he had to meet his friends at a nearby cafe, he had to find a more sustainable pastime.

The singer-actor spotted an empty conference room soon after his revelation and ducked inside after checking the timetable to be sure he wouldn't be encroaching on any upcoming meetings. He gave the room the same treatment as the halls, buying a little time to take it in before simply plopping himself down in front of the keyboard.

It was a smaller space than the entire company, of course, so he was soon settling in front of the rickety instrument. Stabilizing it on its stand with a hand, he used the other to make sure his chair didn't roll away before he sat fully.

Well settled, he allowed deft fingers to idly thrum a series of three keys on repeat while his brain worked to decide on a song. After a few moments, Hyoseop produced his phone to open the file with the sheet music to Christian Wunderlich's "Why Goodbye."

Clearing his throat, he lowered his mask to beneath his chin with his free hand before setting the device up on the sheet stand. With a soft "let's try again" to himself, he began playing the opening chords, eyes following along to make sure he started the vocals in time.
